New Recording
After performing our 'Seasons' program a number of times (the wonderful transcriptions of Vivaldi and Piazzolla Four Seasons), Luca and I are recording it! I lost track of how many audience members asked us where they could buy our recording, and soon we'll have a much better answer for them! We are delighted to be recording at Rosario - a very special converted monastery in Belgium. Rosario's chapel has a beautiful acoustic and we're looking forward to spending a few peaceful days on site, immersing ourselves in the recording process

5 recitals in Canada, including the premiere of a new work by Lithuanian/Scottish composer Ruta Vitkauskaite
I'm delighted to play more of Ruta's music (I played her solo piece 'Kazritza' quite a few times in concert now) - this time her work for violin and piano, 'PA', with pianist Ken Gee at 5 recitals in Ontario, Canada

Summer concerts with Luca Piovesan
Luca and I started working together recently and this summer we were very happy to have the opportunity to present our 'Four Seasons - Vivaldi and Piazzolla' programme in Belgium a few times. Luca's violin + accordion transcriptions are fantastic and we've already had lots of audience members asking when the recording is coming.. so let's see!

New video! Transylvanian Nights - the music of Laszlo Lajtha
World premiere recording of music by Hungarian (Jewish) Pal Hermann
Hermann was murdered in the holocaust at the age of 41. For the final installment of Toccata Classics' release of the complete surviving music by Pal Hermann, I'm very happy to be contributing by recording Hermann's transcription of the popular song 'Sombody's Wrong' for violin and cello. Hermann was a virtuoso cellist and he and his best friend and collaborator Zoltan Szekely (the violinist and Bartok's good friend) played duo concerts together all over Europe. It's a pleasure to discover Hermann's violin writing - difficult, complex, and here also jazzy and charming! I'll be recording the piece with Filipino-American cellist Mikko Pablo.

Flash Ensemble's debut recording! We are thrilled to release the complete string trios by the unjustly neglected Hungarian composer Laszlo Lajtha. Thank you to Pavane for making it happen - you can order a copy of the CD here and it will be officially released in the next couple of weeks 🥳
Flash Ensemble’s debut recording explores the largely undiscovered works by László Lajtha. The complete string trios by Bartók’s favourite young Hungarian composer are remarkable for their breadth and depth of feeling, their virtuosic technical demands, and their unique textural landscapes – infused with both the folk elements of his native land and the Parisian atmosphere in which he thrived. Lajtha’s musical voice was silenced by his political troubles in communist Hungary, but his wealth of original and touching chamber music certainly deserves to be discovered, heard, and celebrated by musicians and listeners alike. |
New Duo - I'm delighted to be starting a new duo project with the Italian accordionist (and researcher and sound engineer!) Luca Piovesan. We are beginning our journey with the Four Seasons - by Piazzolla in addition to the beloved Vivaldi classic. More soon!

The return of Mini Concerts! I'm so happy to be able to relaunch my Mini Concerts series which was on hold since the pandemic. For our first concert, on 3 December, we were invited to be part of the Ideas Festival organised by Full Circle Brussels. The audience was fantastic (and huge!) and it was so much fun. Italian accordionist Luca Piovesan and I played a programme called 'A Winter Morning' with pieces by Vivaldi, Tartini, and Piazzolla. Looking forward to the next ones already!
UPDATE - Sold to a wonderful new owner. Wishing him many years of happiness with the Borman
FOR SALE! I am selling my wonderful modern American violin, made by Terry Borman in 2003. I commissioned this violin as a teenager and it served me very well for many years. Now it's time for the violin to inspire another player. Terry Borman is one of the most well known and respected living violin makers, and his instruments rarely come up for sale. To purchase one that has been 'played in' on stages around the world is a great opportunity. The price of a new Borman before his retirement last year was 50 000 USD, but I am willing to negotiate this price for the right person.
Many wonderful violinists own and play violins by Borman, including:
Pinchas Zukerman
Jaime Laredo
Pamela Frank
Kyung-Wha Chung
Anne-Akiko Meyers
You can hear Sadie's Borman live in concert on this link.
The violin is currently in Canada (Southern Ontario) - please get in touch on [email protected] if you'd like to arrange a trial.

Dimensions: L.O.B. 351.5 mm; U.B. 164 mm; C.B. 114 mm; L.B. 206 mm
The violin is a standard size Del Gesu model, and the neck is slightly narrower than average, making it an ideal instrument for someone of smaller stature. It is in perfect condition.

Weinberg 1945 is the BBC Music Magazine's 'Chamber Music Disc of the Month' for January 2020!
5 Star review for Weinberg 1945!
From the Weinberg review in The Art Music Lounge :
'Violinist Sadie Fields, in particular, tears into this music as if her very life depended on it, her instrument screaming in protest against the injustice of broken and prematurely ended lives. If this performance doesn’t move you, you have no soul.'
